"The Sooke Community Choir has always been a friendly and welcoming group of singers. I have been a member of the Choir for over 30 years. Everyone is welcome in our Choir, whether they have sung in a choir before or not. We share our songs and harmonies with the community by taking part in the Remembrance Day services, by singing at the Moss Cottage Christmas Market in December, and the Santa Claus Parade. We also visit Ayre Manor to Share Christmas Carols with the old folks. For close to 20 years I have organized our Spring Sing Out in March which includes the 4 Elementary schools in Sooke. This event is meant to encourage each school to have a choir and for the children to see that singing can be a life long hobby. I have found that I continue to learn new singing techniques from our two talented leaders. With new voice warm-up exercises at the beginning of each practice, I can now sing the high notes more easily!"

"As a newbie to the Island I went looking for a friendly choir I could join. The warm welcome, the positive encouragement and the eclectic choice of music at SCC all drew me in. Now after several years of being a member, I appreciate the way the choir stays true to the sense of community our name implies. We focus on inclusion and coming together to sing for the joy of it while expanding our voices through strong leadership."
